Reading the Work

From reactive store routines to clearer daily readiness

Emberbean's cafe managers were balancing mobile pickup demand, changing traffic patterns, product freshness, and labor coverage with tools that did not reflect what was happening inside each store. Teams relied on habit, handwritten notes, and manager judgment to decide what to prep, when to restock, and how to recover when order volume shifted unexpectedly.

Wolfcrest & Co. worked with store leaders and operations teams to design a planning workspace that combined local demand signals, product shelf-life rules, prep schedules, and pickup handoff status. The result gave store teams a practical view of what needed attention next: which batches were aging out, where mobile orders were backing up, and which tasks needed to move before the next rush.

The work shifted Emberbean away from broad daily checklists toward situational readiness. Managers could plan with better context, teams had clearer handoffs between register, bar, and pickup stations, and regional leaders could see operational friction without waiting for end-of-week reports.

The screens demonstrate places where status, ownership, risk, or context could become easier for a team to read. They are not asserted as production client artifacts.
