Reading the Work

From reactive maintenance lists to smarter field readiness

Sunvault's operations teams were managing a growing portfolio of solar sites where maintenance decisions depended on weather windows, component availability, technician skills, and expected production loss. The data existed, but it did not help planners decide which work should move first.

Wolfcrest & Co. designed a maintenance planning experience that combined asset condition, site access constraints, parts readiness, and crew availability into a prioritized field queue. Planners could compare tradeoffs, group nearby tasks, and spot work orders likely to miss their service window.

The result gave Sunvault a calmer way to manage operational complexity. Field teams received clearer daily plans, coordinators could explain why work was prioritized, and leaders gained better visibility into preventable downtime.

Interface concepts from the operating model.

The screens demonstrate places where status, ownership, risk, or context could become easier for a team to read. They are not asserted as production client artifacts.

Leave the Team Able to Run It

  • Decision language the client team could reuse after launch.
  • Workflow instrumentation that made improvement visible.
  • A practical handoff model for the people closest to the work.
